SkyTower announces SkyRun2024

Bucharest, July 31, 2024 – SkyTower Bucharest announces a new SKYRUN competition for 9 November 2024; the popular tower running competition on the stairs of the tallest building in Romania is part of the annual competition programme called “SKY’S THE LIMIT” and one of the novelties of this edition is the inclusion of two age categories dedicated to children: 7-13 years and 14-17 years.

The category for children aged 7 to 13 is called FunSkyRun. In this non-competitive race, children will be accompanied by a parent, grandparent, or tutor. Meanwhile, participants aged 14 and older will compete in an individual, competitive race, which is divided into two sub-categories: male and female.

The SkyRun 2024 edition is special for several reasons, including the fact that it will be open to a larger number of participants. While 600 runners from four countries—Romania, Austria, Hungary, and Bulgaria—took part in SkyRun 2023, this year, 700 competitors will be able to register for the edition on November 9, 2024.

The SkyRun 2024 challenges participants to conquer 31 floors, 620 steps, and an ascent of 108 meters. All funds raised from entry fees will be donated to four deserving charities: Climb Again, Mia’s Children, SOS Children’s Villages, and Autism Voice. Upon registration, participants can select which charity will receive the equivalent of their entry fee.

Climb Again Association is a non-profit organization that operates indoor climbing centres where therapy and climbing sessions are organized for young people with different types of disabilities.

Mia’s Children Association is a non-profit organization established and coordinated by Mrs. Mia Scarlat and active since 1998. Mia’s Children offers daily tutoring, care and counselling in carrying out instructional activities – educational, artistic, sporting, creative and socializing – to children and young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds, who are in a situation of major social risk. The association was based on the dream of saving children and young people from Bucharest and its surrounding areas who have experienced neglect, abandonment, or abuse.

SOS Children Villages Romania, with more than 30 years of activity in Romania, is a non-governmental organization with the mission of providing a family to children without parental support and supporting and protecting those at risk of losing it.

Autism Voice Association, founded in 2008, is the first association specialized in the recovery of autistic children, which introduced in Romania the possibility of specialized ABA training for therapists.

We are delighted to announce a new edition of the SkyRun competition so soon. For SkyRun 2024, we have prepared a series of exciting surprises. Last year, we received many requests for children’s entries, so we have added two categories specifically for children aged 7 to 17. Additionally, we have increased the number of charities that will benefit from the registration fees and given each participant the opportunity to choose which of the four charities they would like to support via the registration form. Due to the overwhelming number of applications we received last year, we have increased the number of participants to 700 and will be offering attractive prizes for the top three finishers in each category.
